So how many bikes have you riden in your life; lets see Harldey Ablesons, cruisers and more high performance trikes, oh yes you are a closet trike burger aren 't you!!Not sure how the question is relevant to the thread, but since you asked:
Germany is the bad example. Altho I enjoyed driving on their autobahns, the accident rate over there in general is through the roof.
Find out their laws/advice and do the opposite
yet another invaluable piece of information, Steve. Thanks! Obviously the November 2009 IRTAD Report got it all wrong:
- Deaths/100 000 inhabitants:
Germany: 4.5
USA: 12.3
- Deaths/100 000 vehicles:
Germany: 7.2
USA: 15
- Deaths/1 000 000 000 km:
Germany: 7.2
USA: 8.5
And no, I'm not German nor I care for them. But to Caesar what Caesar's is...
Snip...
Again, it seems that the Magic Talisman Group still seems to think that conspicuity trumps awareness, judgement and skills. That remains a fallacy. Which also answers your inquiry as to whether I understand your decision to run highbeams in daylight conditions. I understand, but disagree, because I understand that your reasoning is based on fallacies. Not knowing how long ago your crash was, I hope you heal fully, or have already done so.
Hey Maxtog I bet you spend wayyyyyyy more time telling everyone how to live their lives than you spend riding you bike .... go for a ride .

It never fails when we have a discussion such as this. Daytime high beam use, ABS vs.non-ABS, highviz gear ect...Perhaps we are understanding the discussion differently. I do not believe that highbeam headlight use is a tool. It is an error. The reasoning behind it is fallacious. It has more likelyhood of annoying others without benefitting the rider. The logic behind it is the same as the logic behind loud pipes. It is as effective as a guardian bell, without the benefit of being discrete.
Just because I'm using my high beams during the day does NOT mean that I rely on them solely to keep me safe, that's just another tool in my toolbox. Of course situational awareness, judgment, and skill are still at the top of the list in my toolbox. I can use more than one tool at a time you know?
Curious - the SV650, was it your track bike? No, I've never had a track bike. I agree that it would be a good thing.
That's it?I appreciate your continued interest and curiousity, but still fail to see the relevance. As noted it the post, there probably have been more, but I don't recall them at the moment, and don't see that it would matter.
You don't know the reasons why the accident occured so making comments without knowing the complete details is rather stupid, so you would also be an award guest. You are correct as far as me not having all the details. On the other hand, from the information you provided, you started using your highbeams during the daytime as a result of having a nighttime crash while using low beams. Feel free to provide all the details of the crash, including the police report (redacted for privacy, of course), and let's do some post-crash analisys. Whatever happened, your body paid a pretty serious price. One would think that you would have a desire to understand what avoidance measures you could have taken, as well as whether there were any decisions before the crash that you could have reasonably made differently to ameliortate the situation.
I dont know you but reading your comments I am grateful that you are not a freind of mine, as true friends don't make assumptions based on facts that they don't have.
True friends are few and far between.
I'll go along with a group hug as long as one of those tool time girls get in on it.
