Most C14's will put 130-135 hp to the wheel in stock form.  They are rated at 156 at the flywheel from the factory, IIRC.
Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.

Your right, if it is in the manual it must be correct. ;) Your bike was red-lined on a dyno before it left the factory, and new modern engines need no break in period. Why so many of us still tend to adhere to that, just makes no sense. Your bike so do as you please, but I assure you your engine is in fact "broken in", and you are not gonna hurt it by riding it normally or even flogging it. 8)

I only made it about 100 miles then turned it loose and let it eat........6000 miles now and it just keeps getting better.

I tried to follow the manual when I bought my 2010 but just couldn't keep it at 4000 rpm for 600 miles. So after about 200 miles I just started riding it normal. Now it has over 22,000, uses zero oil between changes and runs like a Swiss watch.

That's why I don't buy used cars and bikes.  I want to be in control of how they are broken in.  That's why they last longer and use less oil than the next guy's.

Yeah, the dumbazzes that designed, built and warranty this bike would not know more about what it needs for breakin than someone who walks in and buys it. One of the problems with the people who constantly spout " I have done this and never had a problem" probably have not torn down multiple engines and compared wear to other engines, and most importantly, when their bike does become crap from their so called maintenance, they promptly sell their problems to some unsuspecting dealer or private individual and then brag to all their friends or anyone who will listen, on how they just sold their problem to someone else and got over. So I will follow the advice of the people who have the R&D , education and knowledge of their product than a lay person in this case.

I'm guessing the break in period is for the rider not the bike. It was important to get a feel for her. Especially if you're not used to such a powerful bike. My 2011 is the first bike I've owned with this much power on it. So I used the break in period to get a feel for her.
However, I also agree the bike is already broken in.

Even though I tend to agree with the motoman theory, I stuck with what the manual said. I don't know how much "recording" the ECM may be capable of but I wouldn't want mama Kaw to balk at a possible warranty issue if they could determine I was flogging the hell out of it for the first 20 miles!
Back in the '90's I raced dirt late models. Only method I had to break in my race engines was on track and in race situations. I would warm it up a bit while in the pits and then a couple easy laps prior to the green flag and then race. FWIW, my pistons looked every bit as clean as the ones on motoman's page. I did run alcohol so that helped a lot on keeping them clean.
