The excitement continues. 'Almost' retired, I kind of like the peace and quite up here in the middle of nowhere... Until last Saturday. Ninja didn't return home
And it was the same day my neighbor the cat hater returned from a 14 day work assignment.
So accepting the apparent, I went about my business vowing to get another cat eventually.
Ran into another neighbor at the gas station last night, mentioned Ninja was gone. He told his wife Kelly
This afternoon Kelly left a message on my machine that a new neighbor returned from a vacation and has some sort of cat in their fireplace. Yes fireplace.
If you know how a fireplace is built, Ninja was up on the smoke shelf, midway between the hearth (floor) and daylight. The former is 8" square flue liner (read: smooth) about 6' tall, the latter is glass doors (read: no exit) 4' below.
He was a black and white cat when he left. He returned a black and dark gray cat with a whiff of smoke around the collar.
Near as I can figure, he was in there for 5 days.
My life is one big thrill after another. But am enjoying retirement none the less
Rick
PS: So I'm thinking... The new neighbors awake in their new home to find a black cat INSIDE the bedroom fireplace staring out through the glass doors.
I think I'll call Stephen King...
