Does anyone have the front running light / turn signal bulb number handy?

Found it ...

1157 (front is dual filament for run/turn; 1156 is single - good for OEM rear turn signals)

Dang it that is correct... 1157 for the front and brake, and 1156 for the rear turn.

I converted my rear signals to marker/turn signal lights and run 2357's in them. I don't remember the exact numbers, but each of the 2 elements is a few watts brighter than the 1157. So far, no ill effects from heat or current draw.

What did you use for the sockets?  This is one of those mods I'd like to do, but wasn't sure where to source sockets for it.

Or did you just replace the "guts" and modify the socket to catch the nubs on the 1156/2357 bulbs?

Anybody replaced the stoplight with LED bulbs? Why/whynot? If good, where'd you get 'em?

Yep.  6 years ago, with 1157 replacements from superbrightleds.com  Love them.  They're just as bright as the stock bulbs.  A couple of days after I installed them, I compared them side-by-side with a Connie with stock bulbs.

Part number 1157-x24. In RED. (With the 100* beam angle) They have LEDs pointed radially, so they light up the reflector in the taillight, too.

They have some newer designs now, that probably would be even better.  Some of the SMD bulbs look like they'd work even better than the ones I have.

I just bought 1157 sockets at Advance Auto or Napa. There was some tinkering involved, but nothing too drastic. I've done this to all of my bikes. No 2 projects were ever the same, but I never destroyed a reflector or housing. I have had to regularly modify the reflector to accept the new socket. You need the 1157 socket to be the 3 wire variety so you have a ground lead.

2057's are the bright bulbs that go in the 1157 socket, aren't they?

From what I could find:

1157 - low=8W, high=26W
2057 - low=6W, high=26W
2357 - low=8W, high=28W

Be aware that filament placement can be different on the different series bulbs too.  I see a lot of difference in where you can see the light when I change those.  I think the 1157s, at least the ones I have, put light in the right places better.

BTW, <shameless plug> this information is on the revised Bryan Moody Common Parts List over here:
http://www.randols.net/Connie/concours_common_parts.htm
No Javascript or goofy stuff, just the info.  You can read it from a smart phone or anything that understands plain old web stuff.  I've used it at the parts store when CRS flared.

'The original', in pdf format, is over here:
