Welcome to the assylum Deadeye,
And with that being said, do a quick check of the Stearing head bearings.
Put on centerstand, have a friend push the rear tire down to elivate the front.
Center the front wheel and see if it falls heavy to either side, if it does it could be some 18 yr old bearings needing replaced. I have an 01, and mine did the heavy to the rt and chunky to the left. Replaced the bearings and all is perfect now. And the originals were shot and in pieces.
Get a Clymer Manual and follow the stearing stem check list.
And of course just wait a spell, plenty more will chime in on this I'm sure.
Another check should be front tire preasures and tire wear.
Good luck, and again welcome.
Ride safe all,
Greg
