The Thing (2011)
« on: February 29, 2012, 09:04:00 AM »
My wife and I watched this movie over the weekend. That thing is without a doubt the scariest monster we've ever seen in any movie! My wife watched a good part of the movie peeking through her fingers, and sometimes mine! Good flick but not for the kids or the faint of heart!    :o

When I first went to the movies to watch it I thought is was yet another version of the same movie done several times. But was pleasantly surprised to find it was actually a prequel to the 80's John Carpenter/Kurt Russel version. Lots of fun if you like that sort of thing.

You're gonna be scared J! That thing is VERY creepy. I don't want to give anything away but here's a word of advice, don't have a drink in your hand before you actually see the monster. Don't ask me how I know this...    :o

The original 1951 version? Or, are you talking about the 1982 version with Kurt Russell?
Any of you know who played "the thing" in the original? (Without looking it up online!!)

Come on, J and I are youngin's. But had a friend mention it to me the other day.  Think he said it was Arness, but don't quote me on it. But yeah the prequel is pretty good, creature can be disturbing to a point, damn special effects people. Big screen and surround in a dark basement, had a blast with the ladies on the weekend :rotflmao:

I actually liked that one.  And no, it wasn't silent.  Arness was the monster.

Loved the first one, and this one was very well done. Now the girls sitting in front of me and the wife aren't very happy with me though. You see, I am pretty good at predicting when things are going to jump out, make an apperence and that.
Well............during one of the later shock and "Oh F**K" things I lifted my feet up under their seats, the girl on the right foot let out the scream for the ages, and my left foot got the other girl up out of her seat, kinda like an F16 ejector seat.
I'm am so bad, I know, they were upset for only a few seconds, everyone laughed a good one, I told them I was sorry, but just couldn't help myself.
My Smart Ass light was on for most of that flick.
So keep an eye on that person sitting behind you, it might be me some day.
Ride safe all,
Greg
