Schuberth... worth the hype?
« on: February 24, 2012, 08:05:19 PM »
Hey all!  I'm in desperate need of a new lid, and have fallen for the Schuberth C3.  Fit is spot on for my mis-shapen grape, and I really like the SRC blue tooth system that is available for the helmet.  Big money tho, just shy of $1100 for both pieces.  If the fit, finish, and safety are up to snuff, then my head is worth it (since its the only one I have).  Anyone have any experience or opinions?
Thanks in advance!
Dan

This is more opinion, than experience, so treat accordingly. :o

On several different forums, and in the long-distant community, the new C3 Schuberth has been heavily praised as an excellent helmet. Arguably the best made, lightest, and most feature-rich flip-up helmet made. The only complaints and/or disappointments I've heard or read concern fit. Oval-shaped pumpkins have had some difficulties with fit over the long run. So, all I can say, if it fits, is comfortable (wear it for a while around the store), doesn't create "hot-spots", etc. you should be very pleased for a long time.

I am not fortunate (rich) enough to own a C-3, but have ridden a few miles wearing a friends.

About the best fitting helmet I have worn.  (I have a fat, relatively round head).

I'll own one, some day ;)

I would love to have one, but I appear to have an oval head.

I had one and thought it was the greatest helmet ever.  Riding around town it was great.  Then I went on a 600 mile, one day ride and it caused pressure on my forehead, so much so I had to stop every 80 miles and rub my head and let it stop hurting for a while.  I sold the helmet as soon as I got home.  If not for that pain, I love the helmet.

Check out the new Shoei Neotec too, but no bluetooth headset with the Shoei

Its all in the shape of your melon.

And each mfr. has there own shape.

You really need to take the advice from the other posters and webbikeworld and figure out your head shape then try it on and wear it around the store. If you wear a do rag or other head cover wear it also.

I am looking at the Nolan N104 and the Schuberth.

I tried on the C3 last year at a IMS event and it was spot on immediately for my 3X melon. I am waiting to try a N104 before deciding. Shoei's and HJC's are a no go and Scorpions 900 is a little to narrow

Just my 2 cents, John

That Shoei Neotec looks sweet, if you have the right shaped head. Just no built-in Bluetooth like available for the Schuberth.
