Looks good!

You didnt happen to talk to them about the front fitment also did you?
No biggie there though, as there are plenty of options, but if they made that one to fit, maybe the front does too....
Say what?

And on and ready to roll, it is supposed to be 65 here in central Ohio tomorrow, guess what I'll be doing ?
I say this after every tire change, but it does look good.

I think the matching front is a 130. Same sizes we were getting the pilot GT's in.

The same time as the Goldwing, which uses a 130 width: so by association, and users here, 130/70-18 will work on the front of the Connie. And cool of cool: they have that size on sale!

So you can have a matched set.

Yes. Just remember the 130 takes a little to throw it in a corner. However, the stability on the road is fantastic.

I am so ready to pull the trigger: I am one of those " tire is better than I" guys. So far I have found sets to be $50-70 less than Avons. I think I will have to try them in the mountains of WNC.

Just a couple of notes...

Pfloydgad...have you noticed how much taller the new tire is?

As for the 130/70R18 front Journey...I wouldn't advise putting it on a 1st gen ('86-93) wheel...I put it's predecessor on my '91...and, while it was much better than the worn out Dunlops I had...it pinched the tire too much for handling to be optimum...it fit on the narrow wheel...but it was really squeezed tight when seated on the rim...

'94 and up should be fine with the 130/70R18 front...

HTH...and enjoy the new tire!

A measurment at the middle of my seat puts me 1.25" taller. It really looked a lot taller, but my Azaro Av46 was pretty much flat done its middle, and cupped pretty bad. I got 8525 out of it, and it was into its wearbars at about 8200. Never got to a cord though, so I squized out the 8525 waiting for the Journey to go on sale somewhere. I wasn't going to pay the sug. ret. of $189 bucks, and Bikebandit really came through in the pricing catagory so early in the year.
I'll give you a road report later tomorrow.
Ride safe all,
Greg

I found it too...interesting...I would bet that this is the tire Pfloydgad ordered...and, I would bet it says SE890 on the sidewall...

Greg...can you chime in?

I'm a bit concerned that it's 1.25" taller than stock??

Oh it says 890 for sure, and of course it says Journey also. Give them a call.
Now as far as the measurement goes, remember now, I was taking a measurment with a very well used tire as the comparison. If you saw the Avon you would understand very quickly, it is very squared off. So that might not be reality if you wanted a true "stock" comparison. It has been so long since I had stock, I wouldn't even guess that measurement.

Avon says that the tread depth on an Azaro is 7MM, so worn out is 14MM short: 1/2 inch right there.

Well..........................................
112 miles and extremely windy conditions today, but it did hit 65 deg.
I am very impressed with this new skin, solid as a rock even with the wind, smooth and very tight.
With the wind coming from the west and going either N or S, this thing sticks very well.
And... you will Love getting your Connie on the center stand with this tire, a quick yank and she is up.
I am going to hold total judgement for a rainy day that is warm enough to see how she does then, but right now, this is the tire in my opinion.
Well worth the wait, and if the pricing stays put, I'll get another for next year just because.
Ride safe all,
Greg

 Greg,
Thanks for the feedback, but I'd wait until you need the tire.
1; although I doubt it, you may change your mind after the tire gets 5k+ on it
2; Shinkos pricing has remained pretty stable since they came on the mkt
3; won't have to worry about the xtra tire getting in the way

And of course, good judgement rules again. I always get excited about a new tire, man I'm easy to please.
Thanks for bringing me back down to earth, besides, I might need the funds for fuel.   :P

When you went to put the wheel back on the bike with the Shinko, did you have to put on and then inflate it or did you inflate it first? Seems I recalled that procedure for the Wing tires.

RD,
It went on with 44 psi. no problem. But I also pull both cans and the pig. I give the cans a good Neverdull buff and polish to keep that chrome looking good. And I also clean-up the pig gears of the old grease, and re-grease everything with new fresh slime. Shock grease certs get a new squirt, and everything in the under fender gets a good wipedown and inspection. I shoot the rear brakes with brakecleaner, pull the pads out and do a good cleaning there also. So just doing the rear tire is actually a good rear end cleaning and lubing, wow, that came out wrong.  ;)
Hope this helped some.
Ride safe all,
Greg
