Yesterday I picked up my first nail on the C14 in the rear tire. The TPMS worked beautifully! It didn't just give me a low tire pressure warning like every car TPMS I have seen but actually gave me pressure. I never fully realized the value of this until now. It allowed me to see how fast it was going down (it was about 1 psi per minute) and thus I was able to determine I could make my destination and deal with it there instead of the side of the road.
Now the sad part. The nail went in almost sideways and was unplug-able and the tire is ruined (I know many of you don't ride on plugged tires anyway). Just last week I replaced the totally worn out PR3 with a brand new PR3. This tire had less then 200 miles on it.

I picked up a nail in my rear tire and never fixed it. I ran it with that nail for thousands of miles. I'm not sure if that's incredibly unusual or just a matter of how and where the nail went in. I kept intending to get it repaired but never did. The tire never leaked any more air than the front tire. I always keep a repair kit and compressor in a side bag, but didn't have to use it. I put 10k miles on the bike over the season, which finished off the stockers, and when I pick it up this spring, it'll have nice new PR3's on it.
In retrospect, it would've been smarter to have gotten it fixed or replaced before it left me on the side of the road, but it didn't, so I got away with one this time.
The TPMS sure is nice when it works huh?

May be unusual only because most people dont have the balls to leave a nail in. Kudos to you. Do ya play the lottery?

Rhino, had the same happen to me only 200 miles on the new PR3... Three motorcycle shops said it was not pluggable so I went to a tire specialty place here in Denver, http://www.woodyswheelworks.com/, and they took one look and said no problem. Have put another 1000 miles on it and the tire has never leaked. May be a shop like this in your area???
Sometimes I think the M/C shops just want to sell you a new tire.
