Upper Fairing help needed
« on: December 02, 2011, 08:03:37 AM »
Ok, I am stupid.  Now that I have gotten that out of the way.  I can not seem to get the black panel under the city lights to fit correctly.  I am able to get the front quick rivets in place but can not seem to figure out how to get the rear quick rivets in place.  Something doesn't line up as the rivets just fall out of the reat holes.  I didn't pay attention to what i was doing when I removed the panel and I can not find a picture in the manual that shows the rear part of the panel.  I am missing something.  Probably something easy.  Does anyone have a picture of this panel that is inclusice of both sets of quick rivets?

If you have a manual and nothing I wrote makes sense you can see the part I am refering to at the top of chapter 15 page 17

I had mine off a while back but if I remember right, that piece goes on the inside of the fairing,

I was working through the manual backwards.  I found a picture on the previous page mentioned above.  I have it in correctly, I must need to tweek a little, as I assume the rear rivets must align with the holes in the air intake tubes.  Back to the garage.

Just to confirm that my 1st statement was true (I am stupid).  I opened the garage door to shed some light on the situation and it was then that I realized that I had installed the plastic panel upside down.  I suppose that is what I get for working in a dim garage just to stay warm.

What can I say.  It was chilly and dark in the garage but freezing, windy and light outside.  Next time I'll just jump right to freezing and light from the jump.  Or maybe I'll make it a habit of doing stupid stuff.  BTW my dealer released my bike with out oil in it.......  :)

Too be honest, I have a hard time with the panel right side up!

I find that a set of construction lights from HD or Lowes adds light and heat to my work area.  ;)
