Okay, maybe the wrong place but........what did you use to make up the difference in the spring length once you cut it? which end did you cut?
Here is a quote from somewhere I saved and is what I (and others) have done:
The stock fork oil is called 10W-20 in the service manual. The biggest bang for the buck is the change the oil to 15w fork oil and to cut 4-6" of the closest spring coils off of the OEM springs and substitute the coorect length of 3/4" SD-40 PVC pipe to get the spring length back to specs (see attached image). Grind the end of the cut spring flat and protect each end of the PVC with a steel washer (slightly less than 1.25” OD). Make all cuts square. Adjust the length of PVC and the adjuster to get 1-3/8" static sag (droop, fork compression) with you on the bike.
