Headlights present different images based on time of day and distance to the light source....

Here are a couple up close and some distance........HID is a nice way to go......toned down with PIAA 1100X on the front lower forks tho....

Non HID present a more yellow effect even tho they are 55 watt...still Platinum White in Color.

I prefer the 4300k, over the higher 6300K and don't like the blue coloring, as it takes away from the potential you have to see the road more effectively as with the 4300K.  I can actually see every imperfection in the asphalt and let's me drive around the cracks in the concrete or rough places maybe helps protect the tires and make them last a bit longer....

Anyone else getting a similar effect?

That's a lot of light!

I'd like to see a picture from the seat in the dark with them on.

My VVME HID kit came today!  Wow, I underestimated the size of those ballasts.  I'm a bit intimidated by the prospect of finding a good home for them.  I already have a Murphs cruise control module on the right side, and vacuum canister on the left.  I'll be doing a search tonight after work to see what's been posted regarding mounting the full-size (not slim) ballasts.  More to come...

I have the 4100k Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's installed, PIAA 005's mounted on the forks, and Custom Accessories 4" 6000k HID's mounted under the mirrors.  I'm missing a bit of juice with the Sylvania's and PIAA's... but when I'm on the 2 lane backroads and flip on those HID's, it's daylight, and I'm frying deer retina baby!!!

The Silverstar and PIAA setup works very well for me during the dark hours lighting up the road, and the daylight hours keeping BDC's aware of my presence.

I do have the 4300k HID kit for the headlights, just haven't got around to installing it yet.  ::)

Drunk deer?  :o

It was a dark, windy and rainy night when Per Johansson returned from work to his home in Saro just south of Gothenburg, Sweden.

"It was raining really bad. In the wind I heard something screaming with a very dark voice," Johansson told CNN. "At first I wondered if it was the crazy neighbors, but then I heard it again and went and checked. I saw something really big up in a tree in my neighbors' yard and it was a moose. It must have been drunk after eating fermented apples and as it was reaching out for more fruit it must have slipped and fallen into the tree."

I get plenty of those furry critters here in Colorado... and they pretty much don't care if it's day or night anymore.  :o

Man those things light up the road.  I'm planning on going HID over the course of the winter (hell it'll probably be the next few weeks at the rate i go)  Do the fork lights add much for lighting or more for visibility?

Fork lights are awesome for the shorter up close range visibility,.....get the PIAA  1100X use them on all the Goldwings I build...

Do you get flashed a lot by oncoming drivers?

Now let's see where we can go with this...  I can honestly say no to that question, although I know that some of us have.  I think if I were to get flashed it would most likely cause me to run off the road with astonishment.  I guess I live a sheltered life.

That would depend on who's doing the flashing wouldn't it Jim? In some cases you may run off the road in horror...    :o

Like I said............and I live in OHIO. And yes the drunk deer are posing an even worse problem than the spooked sober deer.

It's getting bad here in VA now.  I've seen many a dead deer on the side of the road.  I totally agree with you on riding at night.  I avoid it, if at all possible.
