2009 C 14 Typical MPG's - 32?
« on: October 20, 2011, 09:30:36 AM »
2009 w/ ABS - 7,000 miles, new BMC Filter, 44 PSI front and rear, 230 pound rider = 32 MPG w/ a mix of highway and town.   Seems like my MPG's are heading south - I do ride at 7,000' ASL but 150+  miles on a tank?  Bike runs smooth and things appear in tune - any thoughts out there?

I'm also at high altitude (my house is at 7500') and I average 42 in eco map and about 38 combination city highway without eco map. 32 sounds low. Obviously I'm on a 2010.

I average 35 for commute and city driving. I don't think you're that far off.
Could be the change in temps outside too.

2009 ABS:  at 230 pounds I averaged 37 MPG...Lost 30 pounds and I'm getting 42 MPG for the last two months.  While I was sick, I did throttle body sync and replaced tires as couldn't ride for a month...might be a factor too...dunno.

I would only get 32 mpg if I was flogging my C14 through some great roads.  Commuting back an forth to work I usually get 38-40mpg.  250lbs
Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.

09 ABS, I'm a buck sixty and have never had the average mpg get above 32.1 in the past year of ownership. But I also don't try either, 32 is great compared to my V10 truck that get's 7...  :(

Mine is stuck at 43.1 mpg and hasn't moved since April. I am on a 2010 and use 93 octane only.

I was wrong on my post. I was getting about 42 on a long trip this summer with eco mode on. I haven't used eco mode since then and have put another 2500 miles on the bike and I just went to lunch and it is now showing an average of 43.6. That is mix of town and open road.

My average has been showing 46.1 for the last couple months.  I get about that for in town riding, and close to 50 on the flat slab.  2010 on eco mode, using 89 octane gas.

Mine must be wrong. With flies out exhaust air filter and pcv I get 45-46 almost every tank. I ride to work everyday and have backroads where I really get on it.

Didn't we already have numerous MPG threads?

Anyway... I seem to get 42 average on my 2011 on mostly highway.  I never use "eco" mode, but I also rarely accelerate really hard.  I weigh 160lbs, in low altitude, and I use the correct gas.

I don't think your mileage is out of the ordinary for a mixture of city and highway. Its the slow speed stop and go in the city that will kill your average. Try some highway/interstate riding and see how much it improves.
