Dealer's looking at it on Friday.  Rattled off a list of things that could be wrong including something crawling up the vent tube.

I'll press for the cap replacement.

I can see this thread deteriorating rapidly if there is something up the tube plugging the hole.

I do not know but it was priceless when originally mentioned. That term is compliments of Haroldo- he used it to describe the location of a dent in his C-14 fuel tank I believe (something like "left a small dent right next to the gashole" or similar). I about fell out of my chair when I read it the first time and pointed it out. It became sort of a forum linguistic cornerstone.

By the way, if I remember correctly, Haroldo had plugged a battery charger in above his bike, the charger fell out of the socket.... landed on the fuel tank..... and left a small dent, right next to the gashole. Haroldo took a photo, posted it on the forum and asked if we thought the dent was noticeable.... to which most of us responded that it was bigger than Lake Superior, if it filled with water it would knock the bike over, etc., etc. Ah, good times. By the way, the dent was not really big enough to hold a mosquito.

...That's all you needed to say!  ;D

PS: out of all terms tossed around, you have to admit, nothing describes it better, and more efficiently, with less words, than "gas hole".

I disagree- I believe we are mature enough to talk about something crawling up someone's tube, clogging it and then preventing the proper operation of that person's gashole. I am sure the more helpful around here would suggest using something like a small diameter borescope to look up said canal, clear out the obstruction and then perhaps blow into the gashole thereby verifying proper plumbing performance for that particular individual.

<giggle> Well, I guess I was wrong.

Agreed- that is why 'gashole' has withstood the test of time. We have been using it around here for years now. It is actually a great word and might come into the language on a bigger level if it did not have that other....  implied reference. And of course, all the chuckling slows down the conversation once the word is said out loud.

Considering that I had a colonoscopy two days ago (clean gashole and associated plumbing, proud to say), this discussion is hitting a little too close to home.
