Sounds like the rubber bumpers located right behind the gas tank under the seat, there should be two of them.
Clumsy oaf!
Yes, but there was alcohol involved with the lime....

tthompsr hit the nail on the head.
And yes I've had to glue mine too. No alcohol involved.
While re-assembling my '10 after a valve clearance check I find a piece
of black, hard rubber, 13/16ths square, 9/16ths thick, under the bike
on the left side.
It seems to have adhesive on one side, like it was stuck to something.
It looks like a 'bumper' of some sort.
Anyone know where it came from?
If it is shaped like a shallow 'Vee' with a radius inside, it is what others have said, one of the bumpers that goes on the fuel tank for the saddle to rest on. Otherwise we're gonna' need a photo to make better guesses....

What direction are these supposed to face? Noticed there's an arrow on the side. Mine had come unstuck as well and I took them out to see if the angle toward the tank had lessened.
I had my seat off over the weekend and I snapped a couple of pics to show how these things are installed.
Unbelievable- is that how they are really supposed to install? Amazing because mine have been sitting there with the radius facing 'up' for the last 60K + miles. Your way does make sense though and I can see where the bumpers of the seat have been resting on the 'top' of those bumpers. Makes me wonder what I have been sitting on for the last four years or so (easy boys!).
Thanks Conrad!
