So let me first fill you in. Starting when i first got the bike running it was suffering from intermittent shutoff/no spark issues. the bike would always start fine but every once in a while on the road the bike would shut off with no spark. I was always able to immediately restart the bike no problem and chalked it up to a faulty kickstand switch. This year (second summer running the bike) the issue was still there. The only difference this time was that i couldnt get the bike to restart immediately. I would have to let the bike sit for about 10-15 min before it would start again. Obviously when trying to restart the bike was in neutral so this would eliminate the faulty kickstand switch. After i am able to get it running again usually it will run fine long enough to get home and sometimes it would happen again about 5 min. later. This almost always happens while idling at stop lights and/or coasting around corners. Since the problems have begun I have driven the 1 1/2 hr. highway drive home with no problems whatsoever. So to sum it up it almost always happens on short trips at low speeds usually when i am using no throttle.
One thing to not that i think could possibly be related is that alot of the time when i turn the key to the on position the lights on the instrument cluster wont light until i tap the starter. Also in a small amount of cases they didnt come on till about a half mile down the road which leads me to believe there is a grounding issue somewhere but after cleaning grounds the issue still remains. Any help on this would be great as this is getting tiring as it is being compounded as my #2 cylinder is no longer firing but thats another story.
Things I Have Checked:
1. Vapor Lock
2. Petcock
3. Pickup Coil Air Gap
4. Pickup Coil Resistance
5. Cleaned all grounds i could find (any help as to where they all are would help as im sure i missed some)
6. Pulled apart the j-box and all looked well although i have no idea the condition of the relays.
