I understand you can alter the flash to pass to toggle through display.  Can anyone explain procedure.

The details were lost in the crash but the basic procedure is to take the instrument cluster apart, solder a couple of wires to the exisiting push button which you then run to the flash to pass button wired in parrallel so that it now duplicates the function of the button on the cluster. If you decide to do it please document it so that we can repost it.

I asked the same question awhile ago and never got an answer. I do not feel confident enough to attempt this till I get a more detailed answer. If I remember correctly the procedure was detailed enough so even i could do it.

It should be easy enough to trace the wires from the selection button to the board.
Most of the work will be tearing the dash apart to get to the board. Nope...I'm not doing it. ;D

What's wrong with using the trigger that Kawasaki gives you for toggling through the display functions? Rather use your thumb than your index finger?

The 08 & 09's didn't have that button.  They want to add the functionality we enjoy by tying it into the F2P button.

the F2P button is pretty handy for communicating with the driver who just cut you off via morse code.  For instance...

McJunkie - Thanks for posting those - have been wanting to do this for a while! Since I'm assuming this is a momentary contact switch, what does the other side connect to - power or ground? And any info on where it's easiest to access the wires from the handlebar button? I'm sure I can follow them if needed, just wondering if there is an easy access point... Thanks again!

It is a momentary ground. Unfortinently I cant find the pictures I had of it. I did it on mine with a small weather proof switch mounted on the bars but you could use the FTP button if you prefer. You would have to unsolder the wires going to the button and then run one wire from the switch to the instrument cluster and the other wire to ground so that when you push the button it grounds.

Hmm, I wonder if the High/Low beam switch on the 08/09 could be modified to act like the F2P on the 10/11 (Low beam press hard is momentary F2P).  Then the display mode selector could be added to the finger trigger, without loosing the Flash feature.

The assembly isn't broken down in the parts diagrams, and it's probably not worth $100 to anyone to add the newer style housing.  It would be interesting to know if anyone has looked at that option when they had their handle bar controls apart.
