Employment section
« on: July 14, 2011, 01:18:27 PM »
So, this is a place to post up of any job openings you may have or heard of and a place for someone looking for work.  This forum is spread accross the US and several other nations.  Keep it simple, save the resumes until needed, and NO political discussions.  Lets help each other in the grand fashion we have grown accustomed to in COGDOM.

It will be a nice gesture, but I was thinking won't it be a bit hard to post an opening unless we know what type of job members here are looking for (which I am sure has a very wide range)? I mean there is always one opening or the other in some companies. So maybe, if we do want to do something like this, the person seeking employment should post and we can all chime in and see if we know an un-advertised or not widely advertise position close to us.

I see it as a two way street, it may not be a member, it may be a family member or friend.  It may be for some obscure job in some obscure area.  By having a thread dedicated to the effort it should be easy enough during a search for someone to find.  If someone posts up a request for a widget installer in the Washington State area, I'll see what I can find and post up the info.  If I run a micro sized widget repair shop and I need another employee I will post her up.  Everyone benefits.
So, who's first up?

Great idea by the way!  I currently work at Ft. Sill in the DMPO as a Military Pay Technician, but I do mostly auditing based on the court-martials of badboy soldiers!  I also have worked in the Social Services area at a job corps(first federal job) which is actually closer to my Bachelor's in behavioral science.  In short, I'm open to anything Federal.  Really needs to be a GS-6 or higher since I'm a 5 now with no room to move up!  The wife and I really want to work and live in Washington!  She's a nurse so she's not the problem....

Resurrected after almost a year...

My Warehouse Ops Supervisor just told me he's going back to Ukraine in 4 weeks.  So, I need to find someone to replace him.  So, if anyone's interested, or knows someone who may be interested, let me know...

This branch of the company is in the DC area (Landover, MD to be exact).  It's salaried postition in a non-union shop (never understood why that ever needed to mentioned, but apparently, it's important...).  We've got 8 delivery trucks, 6 drivers (right now), 3 guys in the warehouse.  And 2 in the office (me, and whoever we hire).  As far as the workload, I could run the place without help, excepting that we open at 5:00 AM and close at 5:30 PM (read: when we finish).  So, splitting the work between two - well, it's cake, most of the time.  We do work open-to-close when the other guy is sick or on vacation, though.

Anyway, we distribute engines and transmissions to Ford dealerships and a good number of privately-owned auto shops.  Duties are mostly computer work.  Occasionally, we work out on the floor, and (rarely) might have to jump on one of the trucks.

The job here in Hershey was not for us.  We will be moving to the Nashville, TN area in the near future.  Anybody know of some good job opportunities?  :)
