Ever been to Appleton, Washington?
« on: July 12, 2011, 03:11:50 PM »
Wouldn't it be funny if somebody on here had ever been to Appleton Washington. Teeny tiny little town in the sticks. My family owned property in Timber Valley Washington, and I spent every weekend up there since I was 3 months old. Learned to ride motocycles up there on the miles and miles of backroads. I can find TV on a map, but it's not really a town you can just type into a mapping program. I feel sorry for anyone who didn't have the opportunity to ride dirt bikes every wekend as a kid as I did. What a great experience. That is all.

Unfortunately for me, when I was about 19 my parents had to sell the property. I am sad to this day I cannot return. I have camped near there, but its not the same. I haven't owned a dirt bike since.

Hey Brent, I happen to have a YZ450 and a KLR---'Go ahead punk, ya feeling lucky"!  I'll be passing throught the Wenatchee area the 23rd heading up North for a weeklong vacation fishing, biking, and quading.  Wish I could make the rally, but it just aint happening this year.  If ya ride far enough North to Oroville give me a ring, I'm in the directory (yay!!) and I'l be about 20 minutes away at Wannacut Lake.  I could give ya a tour on some mighty fine dirt roads ;D

Someday I'll move back to Oregon and I would love to own a piece of property in Washington again.
Its just too far to the dirt down here in Northern California.

I got the pleasure of living in Vancouver Wa for just over two years. My son was born there. We had 3 day weekends there and we would take the two kids at that time... stick them in the 69 international pickup and just drive north into the woods and mountains, hit a national forest and just pull off the road and spend the weekend sleeping in the back of the truck and exploring the woods. My son cried all week long, but as soon as we loaded him in the truck thursday night he smiled till we got back to the city. I would move back in a heart beat if I could support myself there. Miss it! best two years of our young lives together.

Yeah I was born and lived in the general portland area until 1999. I miss it dearly, but at the moment you can't beat the San Francisco weather for riding. Someday I will return to Oregon.
For now I have to settle with my yearly ride north.
