C14 prices.
« on: October 28, 2016, 10:32:47 PM »
A little disappointed,  Connie prices,  are people just not buying and knocking the prices down?
A dealer near me has a 2014 (zero miles) for $12.200,  yet I see online 2014s with little mileage for $10K.
The dealer told me that C14s are a bad bad seller and its not everyone's cup of tea,  I remember seeing 2 black C14s (09s) there a while back, they had them 2.5 years before they eventually sold.
Kbb.com give us a high rate, but in the real world they high...
The dealer offered me $5k for my 09 C14 (18K miles) and looks like a new bike.
Kbb shows its worth $7800, but I know Ill not get near that, shame really, these are an amazing bike.
Looking forward to next year to upgrade to a 13/14 Connie.
Dont take my LOW post count as being a new Connie owner, I have been with the "other site" before it imploded........

Dealer offers $5k, has his douch kid wash it, spray it with wd40, and wipe it down, and has it sitting on floor for $7500, and when forced, sells it for $7k, to someone getting a deal...

Hey, dealers are dealers, ...

As far as resale goes, we know what to look for, and what to shy asay from... there aren't a lot of these being sold by people the bike actually fit when purchased, only ones are broke people, or those that the bike didn't fit, or ones with buyers remorse...

There's a ton of Gxrs out there for sale, and stroms, and ... well, lots of bikes...

Everyone thinks their bike is made of gold, especially when its on a showroom floor.

Hi,
        Hmmm....I paid $11,800 in 2013 for a used 2012 with 1900 miles on it!

Still had the stickers on it?

I think the PO was scared of it, brought it back to Dealer and got an adventure bike?

I told myself I was getting a good deal because it wasn't $16,000 and I needed financing!

If I had found a cream puff for $6000 cash I wouldn't of been able to have bought it!

It is what it is!

The Concours is large and expensive.  He is right, it is not everyone's cup of tea.  Around here, most people can't afford it, and lots of people don't understand it.  The majority of people want to drive lawnmowers (cruisers) or inexpensive and flashy 600-1000cc sport bikes.

I remember seeing 2 black C14s (09s) there a while back, they had them 2.5 years before they eventually sold.

No different here.  And all the dealers ever seem to stock is black (if at all) and yet it seems like most people don't want black.  It is the "safe" color for the dealers to pick, who are worried about being stuck with something they can't sell.  There will also be more black ones because black is offered every single year, in addition to a changing color.  I had to wait weeks for the dealer to get the silver one I wanted, since all they ever had was black.

You won't see a ton of used C14's on the market compared to most other bikes...

1) The Concours is expensive, so it doesn't sell as many, so there are less out there
2) The C14 is the end of the spectrum of a progression of sizes/power/features, the the start or middle
3) People who buy it tend to know what they wanted and will hold onto it longer
4) It is built better than most bikes and will last longer
5) It has a much better warranty and will naturally be retained longer
6) The demographic of the person attracted to the Concours are those who don't change bikes as often

I think you're misinterpreting the KBB figures.  KBB says $7800 RETAIL for your 09 assuming it's an ABS model.  The offer of $5K for trade (?) or cash buy is in line with what it says at $5400.  Just like anyone else, the dealer is going to start his offer on the low side.  Perhaps your local market is below average.

But your first mistake is shopping at the dealership and expecting a "deal".  Not likely to happen.  The Kawasaki dealer nearest me has 3 C14s on their floor, a 16, a 15, and a 14.  All new, all priced at $16K+ which I'm sure is the list price.  I'm sure they have their reasons for not wanting to sell these but I don't get it!

The good news is that there are plenty of nice C14's on the resale market, so if you're looking, do your homework and start shopping.  It's amazing what you can do with a pocketful of cash.  It's a real hassle to try to sell a bike yourself and so a real buyer in your driveway ready to take the thing away is worth something.  Remember, however, that it's NOT what KBB or other sellers are asking that determines the price.  It's what someone will pay for it.

But if you want a clean consumer experience and are willing to pay the price, the dealer will surely be able to fix you up.

Curious as to what colors

Hi,
Yea, that "pocket full of cash" is where the problem starts for people like me.....

And where the Dealer comes in!!!

My bike is payed off, I put all I could on the payments to cut back on the interest of the loan!

All I could do, but I got my Beast!!!

Oh yea, I actually wanted BLACK....go figure???

I bought my brand new, never titled,  red 2014 in Oct 2015 for $10,995 plus tax. I waited a year to get the right color on closeout. I waited until the local guy had 5 C-14's on the floor (he's a small dealer, so he either got a deal or is not too smart - I'm thinking not too .... AND got a deal).  He didn't want to budge off $12,500 and change so I patiently explained to him that a day of my time, $50 in gas and a trip to Rockingham, NC would leave me $1,500 to the good and I needed a day off anyway. (and I said the magic word --- CASH...)

I left.

Next day, I dropped by on my C-10. He asked what I was doing with it. I said, "keeping it of course."  His lightbulb went off and said, "What if I match those guys in NC?"  I said, I'd rather use the day off to break in that red one over there. Done!

Moral of the story: Patience and cash are rewarded along with knowing your options.

I bought a 2010 in 15. I had my eye on a 2011 carryover and tried to get the stealer to deal. Lowest I got was $11,500 on a machine that had been on the floor for 4 or 5 years! Decided to buy a used 2010 with some farkles I wanted. It had some miles on it (34000) but  had a maintainace log anf seems to have been well taken care. Seems like the prices have come down since then but aint that how it usually goes.

Just bought my Zero miles 2015 Connie six weeks ago and paid $12,300.  I thought that was a good deal although I saw a little better deal elsewhere but was to far a drive.

Hi,
I guess the other thing is when do you start being "Penny wise and pound foolish?"

Sometimes maybe we wait to long for that great deal and we are not riding!

The other thing if you run around half a state looking for that great deal how much did that cost in your time and money???

Just sayin, different ways to skin a cat!

And we have to make sure we are not over thinking this! :o

I bought my 2012 new in January 2013 for 12k, $13,370 OTD.  I thought it was a heck of a deal at the time. 52,500 miles later, I still feel that way.

When I purchased my '08 9n 7/7/07,  there weren't any around so I got the first one in Va,
Otd was $14,230 total, done.
5 year loan, after I dropped a $5k downpayment, and it was paid off... early, because my credit union got bought out, and I was pizzed at the fact I was never notified of that occuring, I lost a couple grand in savings due to that hostile takeover...bummed me out.

Mine is actually on the showroom floor as we speak (my 6 hrs detail making it look amazing) they said I could sell it in there and help the salesman out a little if it sells.......
Its on the floor for $6700...
I'm holding out till March or April and want to spend $10K on a 13/14 if possible.
I do like the black, but may steer to the blue...
There's a great deal on ebay right now, $8900 obo,   2012 model,  but not the color for me, but has $2000 worth of farkles.
Ill be patient and have cash (like one member posted)
Again, thanks for the replies......

I just bought my Concours looking for a month every available bike used or new in the United States. The current prices (in late fall) are exactly that low. A brand new one was recently sold on eBay for $10700 out the door and the shipping to your door is about $300-$500 more if you are hundred of miles away. There is usuallly no risk with a new bike from a reputable dealer.

I also checked several used bikes and I ended up buying a 2009 with 14k this October 2016, 2 hours away from my house for under 5k. Showroom condition with a minor issue I discovered later: warped rotors! A used one has always some risk.

The dealer is like every business and has to cover rent, payroll etc so a $1500 "profit" is maybe $500 in dealership owners pocket. However they make some more in financing, extras, service etc. It is perfectly normal.

Hi,
It will sale, to someone that does not have all the cash, and needs financing!

These are such great bikes and easy to be set up for how YOU want....

It is surprising to me, they can be bought so reasonable???

I bought mine new this spring, it was on the showroom floor over a year. I traveled over 400 miles total to complete the deal (had to go there twice) But I got exactly what I want. Brand new in green for around the same price used green ones were going for locally. I took advantage of the special Kawasaki Anniversary event financing and its been all smiles ever since.
Every thing I drive is special and makes me excited just looking at it

I bought a NEW 2013 that was in the corner of a dealers for $7000,  I couldn't not buy it at that price.
I let my 09 go for $5999.  So I basically got a new bike for $1000...
Still cant get to grips with the links brakes, driving me crazy.....
Other than that, liking it a lot.
