On a more serious note, thanks for all the info so far. I am having this same issue and will be getting to work cleaning the master cylinder and bleeding the clutch line after the new Barnett clutch kit install that will make my bike waaaay faster!

I'm a bit disappointed. I mention nipples and everyone is talking about lubed shafts!  :banana

I completely missed it.

All jokes aside, this thread has put cleaning and lubing my clutch/brake lever assemblies on my to-do list. Thanks!

Will do Ted.

Just by the way: my PM is blocked because I was getting orders for the farkles I sell from all over the place- multiple forums, two e-mail addresses and it made a giant mess. So I blocked PMs from everyone on all forums I participate on and only accept orders now through my website. Some people think I blocked him / her but that is absolutely not the case.

I am easy to reach via e-mail directly or through any forum including this one. Just click on the e- mail icon just below my avatar (top left of the page- where the picture of my wife and me are on the bike in the snow).

good luck on that swap,.and getting the stack height correct.... $$$$
Barnett springs are notorious for having longer and more forceful springs too boot...adding fuel to the fire...
everydody seems to do this also... adding fuel....

From what I have been told, my stack height is just fine - dry or properly lubed. But maybe they were just being polite.

I don't know if polite is the proper term, they want you to buy a clutch... and once installed, doubtfull if its returnable...

you said "kit" so I assumed full "kit", I just did a "kit" on a DR650, which a fellow bought, it was a full kit, including steel plates and springs.
we ended up using only 2 of the 4 springs, because using all 4 springs was rediculous, I have strong hands, and felt the springs were wayyyyyyy to harsh, but that is a cable clutch, not hydro...
the stack height was slightly taller also, by .020" over the factory height, and that bike isn't a slipper clutch, which requires a specific height, you need to mix and match steel plates on the conni to get a specific height, for correct stack, steel plates are sold with about 10 different increments to achieve that, only reason I mentioned it.
no actual experience personally with a Barnett on the C14, but I can only assume the spring thing would still be an issue...
I did use a Barnett on my old 78 KZ1000, for a week or so, yes, only a week, and found that it had disengagement issues also, and the springs were wayyyyyyy overboard on it also. Stack height on that clutch pack, with only frictions being replaced, forced my to replace 2 steel plates to bring it into spec, the stack as sold was .050" over spec. Ended up going back to OEM parts.

aftermarket parts sometimes are not the best way to go....jmho.
