Thank you! Not bad I agree for being done in the garage over the course of two weekends and less than $150 invested in primer, paint and clear. I used the Colorite pre=mix stuff you can buy at pretty much any Advance Auto or Autozone. Done with both a conventional and HVLP gravity feed gun ( I prefer the conventional FWIW). Tank decals are from an ebay vendor; can't remember his user name, but he sells good stuff!
The inspiration for the painted mirror housings came from F106; in some pics he posted of his bike after he painted his, I was amazed how much it set the bike apart and how much better it looked. The effort required to do it is minimal too. The most time consuming part is probably taping off everything you don't want painted.
All in all, I was nervous doing it, but figured as much as I disliked the '05 disgusting tan/brown/whatever it's supposed to be color Mama Kaw had as a leftover, I couldn't possibly make it look worse than it did! I've done my fair share of body work before, sprayed primer, but never basecoat/clearcoat, or much less sanded and rubbed it out, but I smile (more) now when I see her and how much better it looks!
