Yep, rare, but happens.  Covered in other threads.  Example:  http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=9918

Usually yes... but if you have an aftermarket screen on the bike when you take it in, they can use that as an excuse to deny.
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc

Just swapped the stock screen for a mini-euro, and when removing it, all screws on my new bike were from finger-tight to loose. Both the screen and mechanism flex, but I'm sure mine was doing it a lot more due to the loose bolts. Remove the plastic covers, and tighten the middle bolts, but not too much. Just enough that you compress the rubber gasket behind the screen enough for the bolts not to become loose. Then reinstall the covers and tighten those 4 bolts the same way. Whatever flop you have after that will be normal. But expect more than other bikes. Haven't ridden with the mini-euro yet, but seems rock-solid compared to what the stocker felt. It's thicker too. If you want to know how it compares, send me a PM in a few weeks. I don't come to the forums often anymore. Hope this helps man. Good luck.

my 09 was pretty floppy in the assembly compared to others, was getting it looked at and it was stuck down and would not raise up. easy to get covered when the motor didn't work.   the assembly has been updated several times since mine was released , or so they told me.

bike is at one place but moving to another monday, not sure if it will have the new windshield assembly installed by then or not. if not, the next stop can do it

Did you see the old mechanism to see what was broken?

nothing broken, was wiggly, possibly the plastic shoe things worn ??    mine was stuck down and would not go back up, was working fine before that power wise,  bad spot in the motor or something. there was no cable noise or anything like a bad window regulator makes.

There are some rivets in the lifting mechanism that came loose in mine and caused this problem. Fixed under warranty even though I have a CB EuroTour on. The shop hinted that this was something they saw regularly. They also said that if left unfixed that it could get ugly.

Did they replace the whole thing or just the loose rivets?
