Best deal out there on Storm 2 Ultra?
« on: June 23, 2011, 08:45:56 AM »
Does anyone know of any great deals going on for the Avon Storm 2 Ultra?  My current 170/60-17 rear is approaching wear out.

I am at about 7500 miles and expect to get another 500-750 miles out of it.  So much for increased wear life.  This is almost exactly the same life I have gotten out of every tire I have ever used on a C10 (Avon Azaro, Storm and various Dunlops, Metzelers, etc.) since I started owning one in 1994!

I've never used them before.  I just found them today when I searched for this tire for turtle.
I bought one a couple of weeks ago and IIRC, I paid $135.

They have a good rating:

Glad to see your running probably THE best handling and safest tire possible.  Money well spend IMHO.

The link Oldsmoboat has is to the front tires.  Turtle says he is looking for a rear tire in size 170/60-17, which is $158 from indysuperbike.

Check the above link to Chapparal and if you buy something else for about $6, shipping will be free!   :chugbeer:

You betcha.  I have been really happy with the Avons, first the Azaros and now the Storm 2 Ultras since I added my Mean Streak rear wheel.

Ya, I didn't catch that it was rear.  I just put the Storm on my front and the Azaro on the rear.

That place looked good for tires with the free shipping over $100, until I read the fine print which says excluding tires!   >:(

Yeah, bummer.  Shipping from Iron Pony is $10 which puts the tire at $160 to my door.  That's not bad, but for about $10 less from Chaparral I got the tire and a can of chain lube for my dirt bike and ATVs.  I pulled the trigger on that deal.  Thanks for the link, throb.

What is shipping from Indy? I didn't read anything about free shipping.

I took it as far as I could in the checkout process wihtout actually buying.  A shipping charge did not show up, so I think it was free.   Still a good deal.

My pleasure, anything to save a few bucks here or there!  It all adds up.
