Has anyone had any type of dealing with this company or their LED headlamp products?

Seen this at a bike blessing and thought they were pretty cool. No ballasts to deal with.

They are sold by some companies that I trust but I have never had them. You got a link to the product? Sounds cool

I passed the whole HID thing in anticipation of the LEDs. I have faith in companies such as CREE, something should be coming mainstream soon

Been watching LEDs over on ADV rider. I settled on these after months of laying on my back post crash just doing research for the new bike http://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/3800-Lumen-H4-LED-Headlight-bulb-_p_83.html THey work with Kisan Modulators that were developed specifically for the LED. That is the setup I finally decided on after reading a couple thousand pages of forum material and finally stumbling across a specifically relevant post. I think the variability across LED manufacturers is significant. I like this company as they have had a specific thread on ADV and the owner is extremely responsive to almost any question, suggestion, critique and seems genuinely concerned that he puts out a great product

I bought one of their products from a vendor table at the Chicago version of the Progressive Motorcycle show this year.
I was very impressed by the brightness of the demo light they were showing.

The installation of the bulb in my C-10 was plug and play. Just remove the collar from the bulb and replace with the collar that matches your bike.

Lumen Exports offers

MC HID kits and Auto HID kits. They also claim their (auto) HID kit puts out 4200 lumens (two lights, so this is pretty credible) for the 35Watt kit...and 4200 lumens for the 55Watt "Heavy Duty" kit.

OUCH! 179 apiece? 30K hours. 299 for 2. That's pretty far from 64.95. I am not cheap but that is a huge difference for my new Connie.

In the ADV thread the brains behind the company explained the concept of Lumens measred at the bulb vs output of usable light and the reflectors in the housing. Interesting if you have the stomach to follow through the entire thread

Too much cutting, will not be able to go back to stock set up. That's why I like the Socalmoto HID system. . .plug n play

Yep. Unfortunately, most of the high-powered LED systems have active cooling (a fan). LED's do *NOT* like getting hot. It will seriously affect their life. Enclosed fixtures have no real way to cool the chips, so the heatsink pulls the heat out to the back of the fixture, but there isn't necessary any air movement there, so a fan is usually necessary.

And fans will add complexity, power usage, noise, and additional failure points (can clog, can get things caught in them, can break, have bearings, etc). Some of the fans are designed really well, others not so much...

Well, the technology will continue to improve, I am sure of that. They will get more efficient (generating less heat) and need less and less cooling and be less temperature sensitive.

The ones JerBer posted, with the flexible ribbon stuff, is novel. But I still think there is probably not enough air movement with that design to cool them sufficiently to prevent premature failure... at least while not moving... but who knows.

Meh,

Field stripped my A&R HID system at Bastrop State Park about a month ago.

One bulb failed after about 4 years?
Couldn't find a replacement and the scattered pattern was horrible in the dark.

No pictures, due to race against ambient light!

Tired of the failures. Back to H-4s and guess what?
No scattered light.
There is actually a visible cutoff line.
When properly adjusted they work just as well!

Yep, that is why what I really want are projectors like I have in my G37... Maybe some day

yeah, I have a few hundred bucks in standard incandescents over 90 k miles

Piaa, hella, sylvania etc . Looks like the cyclops have a nice warranty. If I have these for the life of the bike I'll not be disappointed. ...especially if I don't have to get down and mess with the spring clip ever again.

What I Would really like to do is find a set of the new leds off a vw or merc ams see if I can fit them on the front of the bike for daytime conspicuous viewing
