Just an update.... all our seeds germinated, and I have a big flat full of beautiful babies 2" high right now.  This years seeds are very vigorous and viable...
These germinated much faster than last year... we did soak the seeds for 36 hours prior to planting them
Also have them on a heated mat, to provide bottom heat, and kept them covered to retain heat and moisture...

What did you soak them in?  Bear in mind, I've already started drinking.

yeah, me also...

I was gonna say "in cider" (old joke... and not acceptable...)

Just warm, not hot, water in little dixie cups, and kept warm (80*f)
Hydrating those seeds made a big difference from last year, I got plants in like 10 days, as opposed to almost 3 weeks, and we learned a lesson on NOT scrimping and reusing potting soil.... (I didn't, it was Dona...) that caused major setbacks as last years crops got it with root mites, that were in the old soil, stunting the root hair development at the 6 week mark... took a lot to bring them back, and they did finally produce well, but should have been much more prolific, and produced at least 5 times more, 3x faster.. like loosing a month of growing...

I got it down now.

I might enjoy peppers a little more if my wife and kid liked them. Since everything has to be cooked non-hot then I don't get it as much as I might like.

This thread caught my interest so much that I ordered the Volcano in a Box and started some of each variety. Both my boys and my brother in law think the are fans of the spice! Hopefully this fall I will test their bravado.
The dried ghost peppers they included were hot but I was expecting more, maybe because of individual variations or the unknown date of origin?
Hopefully my green thumb from my younger days is still performing.
