51 years ago... where were you?

I was sitting in Ms. Grossman's third grade class at Sowinski school, in Cleveland.
We all were told to go to the coatroom, put our coats on, and go directly home.
Knowing my brother was on a boat offshore of Cuba at one time, I figured they sent us home to die with our families, because they launched nukes.
All that duck and cover drill was scarey.

I was in Mrs. Lapoint's first grade class at Brownel elementary school in Gilroy, California. She came in crying and we all looked at each other. She sent us to collect our coats and lunch bags and sent us all home. Where it seemed like the world has just changed. My brother was on the USS Ranger at the time.

I was in kindergarten, Mrs Baumgartner's class at Emanuel Lutheran school in Aurora, IL. Prolly melting crayons on the radiator.

On an AF base (Upper Heyford) in England on lockdown...  I've got some interesting back information from Genl. LeMay's (one of my heroes) point of view.  I'll fill that in this evening on a timeline.

  Working in a Textile Warehouse in Norton Massachusetts and planning to move to California to get out of the snow and old.   I didn't get the news until I got home that night. We were shocked.

Playing on the playground (1st grade). Mrs. Camp came out and told Mrs. Patterson (my teacher) that the President had been shot. They both cried. That night my folks were talking about guerrilla warfare in Asia and I thought the monkeys from the Tarzan tv show were fighting with people. Not a funny thought. Only a few years before Planet of the Apes.
