Well Jim, I figure it is like this: I simply get around the fact that I appear to be mortal and cannot go on forever. It is not the deal I would have picked but hey, it is not my universe, I merely live here. So given that, I try to take most things with a grain of salt and can virtually always find some way to amuse myself (NOT like THAT- Easy Boys!) in about any situation. I then simply share my amusement with those around me- if they see it as humorous, great. If not, well at least it did not cost them anything.
So hey, just because you are at a [vehicular accident / hospital / funeral / holding cell, ad infinitum) does not mean there is no humor there. And I can almost always find it..... My youngest son is showing signs of having the same 'gift', or is that burden? One day happened to make his wife quite angry and she was not speaking to him for a bit (nothing big, just a very usual human interaction that we have all had). A little while later, he and I were leaving to go do something.... he stepped outside and then leaned back inside and said in a very loud voice and sharp tone: "Brandi! I want you to sit there and think about what I've done!". I tells ya', I almost wet myself laughing. My wife did not find it that amusing but perhaps a little, and Brandi saw absolutely no humor in it. But overall, on average (and don't forget the average contains both Mr. Elkhoof and Kirby), the consensus was that it was rather funny.

I've never met you in person but I could just imagine...
