me...doing a CAGE restoration!?
« on: July 03, 2014, 11:16:12 PM »
No where else on the forum to post this. Build thread - high school relived.  I found this 39 year old "cage " for pennies and it made its way to my garage tonight. Same dark blue car as the one I had way back when.

It currently has a sweet 350, 4 barrel, cam and a Muncie 4 speed transmission. Runs like a raped ape. But will be soon changed to modern fuel injected LS1 Corvette Engine mated with the Corvette 6 speed stick.  Thanks Bill for the motor and tranny!

As for it's rust party -   Tampa's finest body man will be all over it as soon as I can get the body off the car.

Suspension/brakes/steering - While the body is off I'll be replacing the suspension with performance suspension.  Ride will be slightly stiffer than stock, it'll sit a tad lower, but well worth it. Of course steering, lines and brakes will be replaced.  While the body is off I may try to find a '79-81 posi-trac rear end with disc rear brakes from a junk yard trans am.  But that may come later if i have to go out of state or its any drama.

Interior - I'll think about it last but it'll be redone, sound proofed, and the performance gauges and some audio.

For some of this I may need some mechanical help in addition to the body help. Fortunately i know of a few great mechanics that may be interested in my business too. But I'm going to give it a shot.

Honestly I'm nervous  :(

I raise your Valiant with my 1964 Rambler Station wagon...

Will it Run? Episode 7: 1964 Rambler 660 "Cross Country" Station Wagon

Although, mine was green and it was a 550, I think.   Every seat in it would lie down.  A teenager's dream come true.  Engine was somewhat anemic and by golly I do remember the oil filter on the top of the engine.  It was a flat six.  My dad obtained it while we were in England.  It was between that and a VW van....
