How are you guys (and gals) mounting fog/driving lights?
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:19:24 AM »
How are you mounting your driving/fog lights?  I was looking at the reflectors on the front forks (a few inches above the axle) as a possibility, but unless I extend them somehow, half of the lights I have will be blocked off by the fender "flares" on either side.  I cringe thinking about drilling into the fairing piece under the bike's nose.  I don't really want to put them under the rear view mirrors.

Anyone attach them directly to the fork tubes with a circular clamp?  What about attached to a Canyon Cage (I have a set on order)?  Does anyone sell JUST the mounts, designed for the C-14?

I'd love to see pics of how you've mounted yours

I have a cheap set of LED driving lights from Walmart. I mounted them to my canyon cages. I post some pics when I get a chance.

Just took my PIAA lights off of a set of Canyon Cages.  CCs have a flat surface with a hole drilled in the center for the driving light to mount through.  Canyon Cages can be seen (and purchased) in the For Sale Forum.

Thanks, guys

I guess I need different mounts, the led lights I have are too "streamlined" for fork/axle mounts like the ones above, the mounting hardware is too short to clear the fenders.

Here is what I did for mine.  Used the original body bolts to hold the bracket.  Lights are Denali DM1's.  This location keeps the lights above the suspension so they don't take abuse or bounce over rough roads.

I know this is an old post, but I was looking for what kind of lights you guys are using.
On my 08, I mounted a set from Advanced Auto Parts right under the headlights. I'm planning on mounting on he same place for my new 13, but I'm not sure what I'm going to use yet.
On my 08, the lights helped a lot, but I'm looking for something better.

Hi Tony,
I tried that location on my 2011, but had to move them due to the fender colliding with them as the suspension articulated.

Yours clear the fender ok?

Cool if they do! But mine wouldn't no matter where I tried to place them.
Shame, cause I really liked the way the looked and worked there.

I have attached my LED Driving lights to the Canyon Cage. They look great there. I don't have a pic but can post one later if you like.
I am also using an LED Light controller which reduces the intensity on Low Beam

My lights are the Denali DM1 from Twisted Throttle.  Not cheap, but the best quality I have found.

No problem with clearance... 38K miles 2 up and loaded most of the time.
You do have to be careful with the type of brackets, as they do need to mount as close as possible to the headlights.
