Oil Window
« on: March 31, 2014, 01:32:29 AM »
So I change the oil in the bike today. Added the oil like always, I started the bike up for a moment and then shut it off. When I checked the oil again. I noticed the window looking like this:

When I saw that I freaked and then cleaned the oil pan really good and drained the oil. It looked perfect, so I put it back in.

Anyone else see this before?

Looks like a bit of condensation in the crankcase. Was the engine hot beforehand? Did you let the oil refill the sight glass before you dropped it? You said you cleaned the oil pan...meaning you unbolted the pan from the bike? Just trying to clarify.

I think that he meant the pan that he uses to drain the oil into.

Yeah, condensation.

Here's mine. My thermostat was stuck open and the bike wouldn't warm up properly.

The older I get the later it seems but the earlier it is.

Looks like an excuse to go for an extended ride to me....

We often get water in the oil on our big diesels on board ship. No biggie unless it is a lot as it will just cook itself out.

Comforting. I was afraid I blew a head gasket.

I'd be almost certain that its just some cold weather condensation.

I just bought a 09 C14 and it looked just like that and it scared me too. I changed the oil and it looks good now. Thinkin its condensation.
