Replacing my battery...

'91-'92 zg1000, is there any benefit to purchasing a gel battery over regular cell?

Yes.  Not having to check it and top it off periodically. Less chance of funky failures caused by vibration.
Usually better cranking. No acid dripping on your bike if the drain hose falls off or is cracked.
The prices have come so far down that you can buy one for almost the same price.

Thanks, pretty-much the way I figgered...looks like about $80 for the gel versus $40 to $60 for the wet cell...

Yes... I've been using an Odyssey battery and a battery tender for quite a few years...

Not sure about others, but the Odyssey at least has significantly more power

Chromebattery.com, free shipping and seemed priced right.  I just bought an AGM for $50 for my Kaw 400 ATV.  18 month warranty.  It arrived within a week.

Looks like $66 for my 87 Concours, AGM.
