BMW 1150RT horns.  They require no special circuit or extreme volt/amps.  They are loud...like a car horn.

Over in the C-14 Forum, someone is asking about replacing horns.  One idea there is to use a 'Stebel Nautilus' air horn.  Another idea is to use BMW horns.

The BMW horns come in 'high' and 'low' tones.  Would you consider replacing both OEM horns with a high and a low?  Or can you get just one BMW horn to mix and match?

Other ideas or products you have tried, good or bad?

IIRC, the Nautilus compressor can be mounted relotely from the horn itself, thereby giving you some flexibility as to where to mount the two components.

Me, I'm still toying with the idea of mounting these, the TM80 Magnum http://www.stebel.it/stebel2009/products.asp?IDserie=3&uso=1&tipologia=auto but it's gonna be a winter project as it's means removing some (a lot?) of the fairing.

These horns are sold OTP by www.nippynormans as BMW horns. Think of a price on E-bay and double it, then call em BMW horns 

Not familiar with the C-14 Horn mount.
But a set of Fiamm Freeway Blasters was always listed as a good loud set on the C-10.
Available at most auto part stores and I think available at Harbour Freight.
I installed a set of louder horns on my first C-10.  Was not the Fiamms, but was well worth the effort.

Way pay some exhorbitant price for BMW horns?  I have the FIAMM Freeway Blasters (Hi/Lo) set on both the Connie and the Wee-strom and they are real attention-getters.

I have my Fiams on the base of the tripple tree, facing down and forward. By firing straight out it really gets the drivers attention.

I have the Stebel replacement horns that Murph sells. Not the air horns, just the high Db electric ones that are "almost" a direct replacement for the stock horns. Nice and loud, but not a dual tone setup that I can tell. Definately much louder than stock.

Find some 03 and later Honda accord horns, pretty loud and even pretty inexpensive new. Same thing as GL1800 horns and they scared me the first time I used mine.

I have the Stebel Nautilus mounted to the base of the forks and they are insanely super loud. I have stopped deer from crossing in front of me
(2 of them ran along side me and finally turned away but I knew where they wanted to go, across my bow)
Without my ear plugs in they scare the crap out of me!.

They; were loud enough to slow the bike when I blew the horn..
          could make a person drop their shopping bag if you "snuck" up behind em' in a parking lot. <evil grin>
         

But, (somehow) I suspect they may be a litle hard to find now....

They're off a FIAT, and they still work?

+1 for the Stebel Nautilus (?).  I split my compressor from the horn bell and mounted to in the fairing on the rt side next to the headlight.  The clamp for the compressor is about a perfect fit for the fork.  A couple of zip ties (black of course, don't want to look like a hill-rod) and some black silicone to be sure.  Ran some clean vinyl hose between them and watchout!!  As an added bonus, the horn leads are right there, close enough to power the relay to control the whole thing.

Best thing is when students ask me what that black thing is on my forks, I get to show them. (hehehe). ;-))

If you need to see a pic I can take one in the morning, it's a little late to go out to the garage tonight.

Fiat electronics that actually work.  Sounds amazing doesn't it?
While I was in the Navy, I had an 850 Fiat and was amazed by loudness of the horns.
Later, I found an old Fiat at the junk yard and had to give the horns a try.
They did work for quite awhile.  Loud is an understatement!
But, I sold the bike later and may have chabged the horns prior to selling.
