How NOT to carry a passenger helmet on your bike.
« on: December 01, 2013, 02:01:40 PM »
Found this on another site:

While fueling the car tonight, a kid on a Ricky pulled up. He got off the bike and did a walk-around... for a long time. I asked him if he broke it and he said the bike was losing power, then we noticed that his passenger helmet had migrated. It happened when he was out on I-90 at 60+mph.

My friend proposed that had the helmet been fiberglass rather than polycarbonate, there probably would have been a tire failure....

I doubt a FF helmet would have squeezed in there.

That's wicked. He's lucky it didn't jam solid and lock the rear wheel.  And another reason why sport bikes (actually all bikes) should have a real fender down where it will do some good instead of sky-high and useless (I know it's the current style, but why?).  I will never understand why bikes with six inches of suspension travel have fenders sixteen inches above the wheels.

:yikes: wow!! he was lucky thats all that happened.

Is he ever.  I've heard of a leather jacket getting balled up in the real wheel like that and it locked up the rear wheel sending rider and passenger tumbling down the freeway.

That helmet will surely be used to highlight the passengers hair color-wanna bet it's gonna be a long blonde ponytail streaming from the top?  Or, one of them mohawks that is usually pasted on top of the helmet?  This could be something of a fad soon ;)  Gives a whole new meaning to helmet hair :salute:

lmfao "ricky" per google:

An extremely attractive individual who sets the standard for others by being completely and undeniably amazing in every way possible. Worshiped for having the finest ass in America, and getting the most wanted action from girls.

We were coming home from a camping trip back in the early 70s (all three of us were on first generation Honda CB-750s). Suddenly the rear tire on Bob's bike (who was in the left lane of a three lane freeway) locked up and he slid over to the right shoulder with a cloud of smoke and feathers everywhere. His down sleeping bag had slipped from under the bungies and got snagged in the chain and locked it up. Nobody was hurt and we laughed ourselves silly over this.

I contacted the original poster and he said that is his friends slang for a Rice Burner Crotch Rocket.

Probably goes along with the Ricky Racer comment earlier.

The same thought popped into my head as well...  You should probably check yourself into a mental hospital if we're thinking the same thoughts....
