Seat Question
« on: November 20, 2013, 11:07:48 AM »
I just got a free Corbin front seat for my 14.

  • I did not get any mounting brackets or hardware.

I did not get a passenger seat.

I believe my options are to:

1. Buy brackets and a passenger seat from Corbin
3. Find someone selling a passenger seat to get a Smuggler top case
2. Make some sort of cowl or cover where the back seat normally goes

I'm leaning toward buying or building a mounting bracket for the rider seat and building some sort of cowl for the back out of sheet steel or aluminum.

I'd like any ideas any of you have that might be better, easier, or cheaper.

Thanks for any input you may have.

Scott

Contact Corbin for the bracket.  You can't use the seat without the bracket.
If you don't ride 2 up, forget about a passenger seat and get a Smuggler.

But first.... test out the Corbin before you commit to keeping it.  Put it on your bike and try to secure it so it doesn't fall off and go for a "safe" ride.
"Most" people either like it or hate it, only you and your rear end can make that decision.

I love  my heated Corbin, it's very firm ever after 20,000 miles.

There was a Corbin on a 2008 that I test rode and I loved it.  Very hard, but great angle and shape and felt really good.

The Smuggler is way out of my price range.  The passenger seat is pushing it, so that's why I'm thinking of making a cowl.  It might be smart to just get the damn seat and be done with it.  I can be a glutton for punishment.  Check out my GSXR with the Kawi tail and the Craftsman wrench hanging the muffler:

I shot an email to Corbin to price out the rider seat bracket and hardware.
