You're probably going to tell us that the moon landing was real too.

Mostly the older stuff where the story was in control and not the special effects.
Here's a few, off the top of my head (probably think of some others later):

2001: A Space Odyssey
2010
Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?)
Alien
Aliens
The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension
Dark Star
The Time Machine (the original with Rod Taylor)
The Incredible Shrinking Man
Mars Attacks!
Men in Black (just the first one)
Capricorn One
The Day the Earth Stood Still (the original black and white)
Forbidden Planet
Soylent Green
From the Earth to the Moon
Journey to the Far Side of the Sun
Robinson Crusoe on Mars
Silent Running
This Island Earth
When Worlds Collide
The Illustrated Man
Earth vs the Flying Saucers (so bad you have to like it)
The War of the Worlds (the one with Gene Barry)
The 27th Day
It Came From Outer Space
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the old one with Kevin McCarthy)
A Boy and His Dog
Damnation Alley
Terror From the Year 5,000
Fahrenheit 451
I, Robot
Mad Max series
On the Beach
Rollerball
"X" The Man With the X-Ray Eyes
The Road
Things to Come (the original from 1936 )

Nice list! You're right, you should never have to justify your opinions and neither should I. I like chocolate, strawberry , and peanut butter.

IMO. Why do people always feel that they have to say 'in my opinion'? Who else's opinion are they going to give? Sorry, I digress...

Anyway, Oblivion had it all for me. I loved the movie and will watch it again.

Once my opinion is stated it is supposed to become your opinion. I wouldn't want you to consider someone else's opinion. If that were to happen what would be the point of expressing my opinion?

I share your opinion on this subject.    ;)

Watched this last nite online and found it very enjoyable, good entertainment. 'Dune' meets 'The Matrix' sort gig.

Yes, plot holes, but still good.

One of my favorite Sci Fi movies ever was 1981's Outland.  It was unromantic, everyone was dirty, and I thought....yeah, this is prolly what it will actually be like..

I watched it when it first came out. Can't say I liked it all that well - it was entertaining, but the plot was a bit too thin I guess. Elysium, on the other hand, I liked that one better.

How would somebody not share my opinion(s)? That's just nonsense.

Here's a few, off the top of my head (probably think of some others later):

Most of those I have seen, but surely you must admit that the only reason there wasn't much special effects in those movies is because the technology really wasn't available at the time, what was available was pretty primitive. The story line in Oblivion is easily as good as, say, Damnation alley (which was okay) but they have the ability to better implement them now. I can assure you that Damnation Alley would have looked completely different with today's technology. Now excuse me while I find more of those movies on youtube (like The Last Man On Earth (1964)) ;-)
