Last year for my two week trip I had a thread that I posted on daily updating my whereabouts. I had planned on doing the same thing this year and this was going to be my ride.
I wanted to ride to Colorado, but life has thrown some curve balls (not in a bad way) and I am going to duck and roll with them.
I am still going to take my two week ride in August, but now I am not sure where to go. The only destination I have is Idaho Falls the last week of August. How do I get there is the question. Idaho Falls is a long days ride from my home town, or two pleasant short days. I have eight days to play with before I need to be there. I first had planned to go ride the North Cascade HWY and stay at my sisters cabin in Mazama for a few days. BUT, Last Sunday Mother Nature threw the kibosh on that plan. HWY 20 is closed due to mudslides.
I am done with work for the day and I could have my bike loaded and on the highway in 15 minutes. I thought about riding around Mt. Rainier and then heading up 97 to HWY 2 camping along the way. Go check out Priest Lake in Northern Idaho, lolly gag around there for a day or two before I head South, but I was REALLY looking forward to riding the North Cascade HWY from Seattle. Do I sit around and wait for it to open or do I get on my bike and go?
My family likes to follow along with me as I am riding, and this forum gives them that opportunity. Hence the thread, "Where's Gumby".
I might just wake up in the middle of the night and decide to head South, who knows.
Life's good my friends, hope to see you out on the road.
