I had my pr3's installed by the dealer two years ago. I ordered them and four days later, they were there and installed. Great.
I needed a new rear tire so I thought I'd save $40 by having local independent shop do it,
I ordered tire. A week later, shop called and said wrong tire came in, they'll get the right tire in three days.
I dropped my tire off. A day later, got call saying that the tpms just "fell apart". Uh huh.
I went in and the thing was busted up. Shop agreed to order a new one.
One week later, they said the wrong part arrived. One week later, they get tpms and tire mounted up- great.
I put wheel on bike, got no reading from that tire. Called shop, they said it shouldn't require reprogramming (it did!).
Shop agrees to pay for reprogramming, I drive 30 miles to dealer for that.
I think all of this went on for almost two months. I actually drove the thing for the first time last week (one week road trip).
I really wished I would've paid the extra $40 and had the tire installed back in feb. I think I paid for the tire end of feb, the tire with reprogramming was done third week of April.
If the dealer F's up a sensor, it is on their dime. Plus, I have extended warranty so if a sensor is going out, dealer is a good choice to replace tire and sensor.
