Second Guessing Myself: Front wheel mounting

If the bike is under warranty, this should be covered. Any competent, or nearly competent dealer, can install them. On the other hand, they are not expensive so you can buy them out of pocket and do it yourself. Whatever way you like best will do here I think.

mine are like that also, was told about it from the guy doing the fork work. glad its not only mine i guess.
should i try to get this covered or just purchase and install myself ??

Yeah, I plan on doing some major maintenance next year. I've got a few months of riding...or what passes for riding in the deep South in July/August before my Fall deployment to SW Asia.

The C14 will be laid up for about 9 months, upon my return I plan on: R/R fork seals, steering head bearings, wheel bearings/seals/spacer, valve inspection, fork service, shock service and generally going thru the bike. It's been a superlative ride for 70k miles, moreso than my previous two C10 (120k total mileage).
