Mesh pants for hot weather riding
« on: May 20, 2013, 06:36:28 PM »
My BMG pants are great for the cold and okay up to about 75 degrees.  But I need something that will breath like a mesh jacket. I see a lot of feedback on mesh riding jackets and was hoping those that have good experience with their riding pants could share it.  If possible comment on the sizing and fit too.

Thanks in advance.

I road through the desert out west at 114 degrees, I wore Lucky Brand Jeans.

It cooled down to about 112 from the west TX border all the way to Dallas, I think I was wearing either J. Crew or Hollister  :D

This summer I'm taking the long way to Alaska, will be wearing about the same, even in hot Chula Vista, CA (just North of Tijuana)

Rev'It Tornado !!!
I am very happy with mine, use it from early spring to late fall ( Rev'It liners are simply the best ).
When it gets really, really cold, I just put my rain gear on.

Are you going to wear the mesh jeans while riding and want to take them off whenever you are off the bike?  If so, make sure and get mesh pants with full side zips.  I had bought some with only to the knee zips and they are only good if I am going for a Saturday ride.  Wearing them to work is out of the question.

If you want them to not get too hot when you are stopped then get silver instead of black.

If you use your bike to commute and want to wear them over  your work clothes a one piece mesh suit would be your best choice.

I really like my Sliders All Season Kevlar pants.

I got these in silver for my epic adventure last summer.  http://www.compacc.com/p/Sliders-Kevlar-All-Season-2-Pants

My buddy has them and says they are "bar none" the best all around pants he has ever had, I am about to get some before our big trip in June.

$31

I bought a pair of these several years ago.  At the time they had an all black option.

Maybe if I fall off of the bike I will pay for it or maybe my Sidi boots will save me! :)
