New way to retrieve radio controlled airplane
« on: April 08, 2013, 03:17:51 PM »
Thought this a pretty cool way to get back a crashed airplane. Language is a little rough.

Where were these guys when I was a kid.  I got more model rockets stuck up in the trees than I care to mention.
Great video.

Nice way to have a 'copter lesson.

I took one lesson during a morning traffic broadcast.  My feet were almost on camera so he told me to move them when he went 'on air'.

That is fantastic.

I kept waiting for the rough language though..........I must have been watching the censored version. ;)

Would someone explain why the downwash from the blades didn't blow that plane or the trees around more?

I never had that much luck when I crashed, getting my plane back and no damage, that's a great day flying.
I have a 20 year old QB40 that my kids "found" in my storage stuff. I told them many stories about building my plane, crashing, flying, crashing, equipment, crashing, and more crashing stories.

I told them since they got my plane out, I might get back into flying again. Well being smart a** kids, they probably felt I might need some help. For X-Mas 2012, my kids got me RealFlight 6. I wish I had RF6 before I started to learn how to fly.

Remote Control "RC" as a hobby is fun stuff, unless you crash a lot. I did master the crashing part.

That's how I did it 30 years ago. Fly it each day until you crash it or it gets dark. Then spend the next week rebuilding so that you can repeat the next weekend. I've killed a lot of balsa trees in my day.

I'm still killing balsa trees. It has been my passion for 40 years. Other hobbies and such have come and gone but the planes and helis stay the course. Airplane crashing hasn't been too bad last several years but sure have tore the hell out of some helis!!

I'm hooked on gas boats.  I got all the other stuff (worked at a hobby shop part time for years), but boats are my favorite.  1/8 scale hydro (like the Miss Budwiser) hull designs.  They always look so classic in the water.  And the sound of the motor at 30k rpm with 60% nitro - WOW and nasty at the same time!
