This was mine at about 15,000 miles. The sun is behind the filter.
With most of my mileage being high speed touring, I wonder how dirty the filter is- original filter now at 14,717 miles.
About 10 minutes taking my time. No need to remove the side plastics to remove it. Just remove the black piece on top and remove a bracket and it slides right out. What black piece are you talking about?
Mine are still good at 25K
This filter was at the top of the Rockies, offroading in Arizona desert, Vegas, offroading in Moab, Utah, chasing Brisket in TX, blistering OK, and all over the blue ridge mountains
Southeast USA, and a few days in Key West, FL.

To the left of the gas tank as you look down from above. You have to remove the plastic tank cover to take it off so I guess technically you'll remove two pieces.is your bike a MY 08-09 or MY 10+ ??
