Anyone in the Austin, TX area that has time, Lukenbach has great pulled pork, topped with cold slaw.  Fries are a whole potato, spiral cut, and cooked as one piece.   Not much to see there, but the roads are great, and normally lots of riders, especially on weekends.  tp

Was there last month.

Sadly, I missed Luckenbach while in TX for MotoGP.   :(

My mission that day was http://tourofhonor.com/ sites and the Three Sisters.  ;)
I was in Fredericksburg, saw the "loop" road signs and wondered....

At the end of the 500+ mile day, back at the campsite, I learned I was sooo close and it wasn't that far off my route.   :censored:

Sure would like a pic in front of that "post office."   :D

Went through La Grange, didn't see the little shack outside of town.
You know what I'm talkin' 'bout!   ;D

Sadly Marvin Zindler of Channel 13 news saw that it was shut down in '73.  Wonder if the Topp Boys ever went there. . .

Interesting town... Found homes for sale from $26K to $300K+++.  Off I10, just a 1000 miles from my home, also off I10.  did you eat there or just take the pic?  Read good and bad about the food served.  Simply wondering if the food is worth a 2K ride, or is the best feature the T-shirt???? tp :P :P ;D

I'm guilty of crappy pics in this thread too, but its about about the places more than the quality of jpegs.  I have my phone with me all the time, rarely do I have my D800, lenses, lighting,  etc on my bike   :D

Some phones have decent cameras, some crappy. Mine is rather crappy, and the new phone coming soon, is even crappier.  To me, it's about the ride more than the actual pic.  Been some great comments about the destinations, too.  Not sure it would be worth the 2K trip to do Chinese in Lake City, though. ;D

My Chinese food is fried rice, chicken or shrimp, and an egg roll.  Not into much else so what they serve is just fine.  ;)
If you wanna try it out, I'll put you up for the night tomp.  Hell, I still got the tent set in the spare room after drying it from the trip in April.   ;D   8)

26,000 is probably a single-wide in the woods.   ;)
I'm renting a brick home, small, in the country on an acre about 15 mins from work. I like the lifestyle but need to get back to PHX.   :)

"Interesting town," for sure.
Restaurant openings are front page news.  :o

I usally have an S8100 P&S handy but not that day.
Carried my D80, almost all of my glass, mono and tripod to Austin for MotoGP.
The threat of rain kept all that gear packed away.   ::)
Tips for prepping DSLRs for rain?   ???

Cell pics really only look crappy once you see them on a large monitor, unless your cell cam really is that  :censored:   ;D

I left PHX in '98 and STILL say those very words,  need to get back to PHX!

I do ride my bike back from FL quite often.  And here is a pic in front of my favorite BBQ joint in Gilbert (suburb)  ;D

You know it, Rhino!!   :D

Full burlap sack of fresh green chiles to roast when back home makes a great smell in the car for the trip back. Spend a few minutes out, for a refuel, get back in and OM :censored: G!

Chile Festival weekend is Labor Day weekend.
I think we camped on the Rio Grande for 10 festivals and did some decent exploring.
Questions about going maybe I can help.  ;)

I had to settle for frozen while there, and canned to bring home when I was there the end of May.

A six pack of lobsta and 5 lbs of big Jim's delivered to the house.  No need to go riding anymore.  Where's the fun in that?
