Great Farkle: Rabbit Ear Mirror for C14...now available
« on: February 05, 2013, 06:03:49 PM »
I have been working with a really neat guy name Randy who own http://kawasakipolice.com/

I talked into creating a plug in set up for Rabbit Ear Mirrors like the ones on the cop bikes. He gottir-done!!

He is willing to look into a group buy for the Concour community...if you are interested give him a call

ANECDOTAL: RT new ownership's first move is to get rid of the seat and buy a set of rabbit ear mirror from the FS Beemer model that fit the RT perfectly. Like the RT, I find the Connie mirrors make you take your eyes too far off the angle of the road; can't say that I enjoy looking at the back of my gloves/saddle bags on the mirror either.

Therefore, I went on an adventure looking for modifcators to make me a way of installing rabbit ears on the Connie. When I saw how the police Kawa have theirs set up (rear view mirrors) I contacted these guys and literally talked into making this gadget for the C14ners...

I got a set coming!

Please check with them for price but I am speculating:

Ramball is 96.00
Versy mirrors (on the pic) 135

You can get the complete set up for 194.00 if you opt for the (round mirrors) KLR 650 mirrors on cop Kawasaki bikes

I assume discounts if sufficient C14 owners like this set up

The '10 up Connies have raised mirrors and see everything well already over the panniers, is there any real benefit?

In my opinion, you cannot beat the efficiency of rabbit ear rear view mirror on these bikes. First of all, you are still looking at the road ahead of you when you use them; secondly, you get a better blind side view.

I have a 2012 and I see my knuckles of the stock mirror. Its very difficult to get a clean sight to watch out for cops with the stockers...not that I am a speedster, but you hate to get that 10mph over the limit chicken-kaka tickets some of these solo/s around here will hit you with....just my thought on these.

I guess those would be good for the guys who put corbin seats and 3 inch handlebar risers on the bike, but I don't think they would work for me.

I'm not about rabbit ears on my Connie either.  However, OP, you may have better luck selling some NICE high-end stuff:  http://www.rizoma.com/universal/mirrors/en

ZG I think you may be familiar with this Rizoma product line, don't ask me why I suspect that  ;D

No thanks.  :doublepuke:

Seriously, I never understood the obsession over the mirrors. Every vehicle has blind spots. This is why you are taught to look over your shoulder before you change lanes or merge, turn, etc. You can load your bike up with mirrors but you still need to look over your shoulder.  I guess coming from an RC51 I think the mirrors on the C14 are pretty decent, not perfect, but decent, and I have the 2009. I would be more concerned about how distracting the mirrors described in this thread would be than I am about how deficient the stock mirrors are.

+4   The mirrors on the Gen 2 bikes are adequate and I look over my shoulder every time anyway.

If anything, I think the stock mirrors on my '10 are too wide!  I've ridden narrower bikes with narrower mirrors that worked just fine.

because the rizoma product is the best of the best and with the added touch of pure bling.  Its used for performance on pro race bikes and as jewelry on show bikes.  You mean you don't have the uber-light billet metal brake reservoirs and such on your bike, I assumed you did  8)
