There are many of us that already run these.
I believe this is what you are looking for.
You can get them in blue or yellow.. we use red.
You can get these in 3 led , four led or 6 or more.
You can program them your self to flash a couple of times and stop or many other combinations
You can by two (3 led) and sync them together. I have that on my C14 on each side of my tag.
You can buy 6 led and have them programmed to do simple or complicated sequences. I have the 6 led on my KLR.
I have the 3 led on my C10 where the bottom reflector is on the rear mudflap. It fits perfect there.
They are very bright and waterproof.

I looked at some similar but I think I need a flasher that will time out and go to a steady burn after x amount of flashes. The ones like that I've seen continue the flash pattern as long as voltage is applied to them.Yes, it does that too. it will time out and go to a steady burn after x amount of flashes.

I know it is 3 or 4 flashes and then stays steady on, perfect for a brake light or you can have just plain old steady on. There are 10 different flash pattern programs in the 3 led version and 14 in the 4 led and so on.
Depending on what state or country you are in, either amber or red and since most lights wash out in the sun except red, I would stick with that.
