I think if you only did that top piece it wouldn't look too bad... That seems to be the spot that most hit it with a boot getting on the bike.
That never happens to me. I learned IMMEDIATELY on this bike that you have to mount it while facing the side of the bike. I put my right leg forward and then over while turning the rest of my body.
