V&H CS-One fittment on '08?
« on: October 18, 2012, 10:03:07 PM »
Did a search and didn't find anything deffinative, sorry if this is redundant. It's been a while since I've been on here and have sort of lost touch...

I am through my divorce, on my own, and am getting back to spending time with my 08' C-14. Been thinking about a slip on and tuner. I like the V&H CS-One but see that they advertise it for '09 and up only. Most other brands show '08 and up. Why the difference? Why wouldn't it fit an '08? Has anyone installed one on their '08? Thanks for any info.

The CS-1 will fit a 2008, it's the same as my 2009. You will notice a loss of low end torque, but it will rip from 5K to redline very quickly, especially with the "flies" removed, and the PC auto tuner added.

Cool. That's what I was thinking, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks for your reply!

I would wonder about...'You will notice a loss of low end torque'. I don't have a cs1 but I don't see a loss of torque.

Pipe looks great!!  Loss of weight, sound and looks is all you will gain.  Power isn't affected to any real measurable degree.  If you want to free the beast get a full AreaP or similar to go catless, tie it in with a PCV or reflash from Guhl, yank the flies and if your'e interested get the Auto Tune and add a set of ZX14 Throttle Bodies.  Do them things and I assure you a very appreciable gain in power.  You already have the fast one, make it even faster ;D

My mind is never completely set until I hit the submit button, but I've used V&H pipes on 2-3 bikes in years past and have been happy with sound and workmanship. I've also used TBR pipes with very good results. There have been a few that haven't been all that good as well.

What do you have in mind?

Muzzy, Area P, Holeshot or Leo Vince.....the rest offered are pretty much lackluster in build quality and sound.

Ok...

I ordered a PC-V from Fuel Moto loaded with the appropriate map, and a Holeshot 17" Comp 2 in Stainless. Should be here in a few days.

Nice choice in exhaust.......but you don't need the PCV, install without and see how it runs first "trust me". You only need a power commander if you go full system or pull out the flies, my bike runs flawless with my Area P and no PCV.

Just curious, why didnt you order all directly from Holeshot?

I ordered the pipe from Holeshot. Asked about the PC-V and was told they didn't sell them.

My 'flies have been removed and I have a K&N filter as well. I shortened my stock pipe 6", that combined with everything else, it runs a bit lean as it is. I figured it would be worse with a freer flowing pipe.

Yup........and I would've installed PCV ASAP after removing the flies, adding the K&N with that makes it much leaner.

Indeed.

My riding range is from 5000ft to 12,000ft elevation, so it's not as bad is it might seem, but I can tell it would run better with some tuning.
