Removing the fuel sender assembly on C10
« on: September 26, 2012, 02:17:14 PM »
I'm going to start cleaning out the heavy varnish on the inside of the gas tank on the C10 I'm resurecting, and I want to remove the fuel sending unit to clean it, and to make a temporary cap to seal the opening while I'm cleaning the tank, so I don't damage the sending unit, and I looked in the factory service manual, but couldn't find anyhting on how to remove it.

Lokking at the parts schematic for the sending unit, it looks like the outer plastic cap with the drain line pops onto the sending unit, so whats the proper way to pop the outer cover off to gain access to the sending units mounting screws without damaging the outer cover.  ;)

It's been a really long time but IIRC it's just a simple plastic snap-on cover that required no tools or black magic to remove...

Thanks T.

I just went and grabbed the cover around the drain plug and gave it a good tug, and it popped right off.  ;)
