An appropriate day for an old squid to retire.... good luck with the final retirement, hope that works out for you.
I just went the other way. I just got hired at my new job (at the age of 64) as an R&D Mechanical Engineer at the company that used to be Hewlett Packard (which I worked for back in the day). The division I report to (Chemical Analysis Group) was one I tried to get into back in the early 90s but it didn't work out at the time.
For me, this is my dream job, couldn't be happier. Retirement is the last thing on my mind, I am having WAY too much fun. I love it.

Congrat's Conrad. Enjoy the freedom.
+1!
I'm jealous...
YOU, must be a Marine!
Ride safe, Ted
I can't respond to this post since SOP made it sexist........Well, slap my pee pee!!
I've got to work one day in 2014 to receive my employer's 2013 contribution to my retirement, so 1/3/14 will be my last workday. I've been almost OCD with my savings since as long back as I can remember, so I'll be OK financially however I do have some concern with how I will occupy my time. One thing I know for sure, is that I don't want to continue doing what others want me to do.
I am now officially retired!Congrats. Vacation's over?

Yep, now it's time to get down to the serious business of doing nothing and getting paid to do it. Hmm, I guess that's not much different than before I retired only now I don't have to leave the house to do it.
