I spent a couple of days riding the Big Horns in late August. Took the time to find the old section of 14A which was bypassed several years ago, It has some great scenery but is really a Goat Trail.Sounds like a winner to me. Would love to have my dirtbike out there with me. Plenty of trails in the Bighorns.
Hwy 16 is a great road too IMO. In fact, I kinda think 16 a longer scenic ride than 14A or 14. How about you?
Hwy 16 is always a great ride, I usually ride 16 east to west, 14 west to east to Dayton , 14 back to Burgess Junction and then 14 A west to Lovell.Sounds great. Wonderful scenery on what I consider lightly trafficked roads. One thing though, I liked 14A on the west side downhill toward Lovell before it was repaved. Then again, for me, that goes for the other roads out there too. Guess I just prefer the “rougher” pavement.
This year I camped in Greybull for a couple of nights and rode all of the above in both directionsI stay in the same general neighborhood in Greybull as you did. I usually make base camp in the KOA there. I like their diner, as I’ve enjoyed a few tasty meals there. I also like one of the local motels there.
I learned long ago that you just don't pass up the Beartooth or Chief Joseph when in the area.COPY THAT!
Awesome pics. I hope my dad and I make it out to the Big Horns (around Sheridan, WY where he grew up) within the next couple of years. What a great place/area to live in. Here’s wishing ya’ll a great and safe adventure when ya head that way.
Rough storm came thru the CG.
Only two tents were left standing. A couple of small two wheeled camper trailers were truned over, limbs and debris were blown everywhere.
